I like having sidewalks but I don’t think it’s necessary for them to be 5 ft.  I don’t have any problem walking side by side with anyone in my family on our 4 ft sidewalks.  I think if they would have just followed the 4 ft plan arlready in progress there wouldn’t be continued controversy about it.

I don’t think this was the right time to change over to 5 foot sidewalks.  With all the negative reaction to the pathways plan what were they thinking?

West U had the same problems as Bellaire as far as mature trees and sidewalks just here and there or nowhere at all. They had residents for and against sidewalks for the same reasons as Bellaire residents but they came up with a sidewalk policy just like our council is trying to do. If West U can figure it out so can Bellaire.

Weren’t sidewalks already on a ballot in a bond election? Isn’t that how we got to this point?

Future sidewalks should be on a ballot for a vote but the ones they are installing now were already voted on.
