PATRONS for Bellaire Parks announced two upcoming fundraising events that will support the development of Evergreen Park, a planned premier community green space designed to serve Bellaire and the surrounding area.
The events begin with An Evening Speakeasy on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., hosted in partnership with Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Bellaire. The kickoff event will feature wine, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a guided dance lesson for those who are so inclined, offering an intimate introduction to the Wine & Tapas season.
The fundraising effort continues with the 16th Annual Wine & Tapas Gala, themed All That Glitters Is Gold, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Parks and Recreation Center, transformed into an elegant ballroom. The signature gala will include fine wines, gourmet tapas, live entertainment, and themed experiences inspired by the Roaring Twenties.

Proceeds from both events will benefit Evergreen Park, which is being developed through the We Are Evergreen initiative. The initiative was formally established by the City of Bellaire in September 2024 following unanimous adoption of an ordinance creating an ad hoc Evergreen Park Committee. The committee is guiding a two-year strategic plan focused on community engagement, fundraising, and site development.
Evergreen Park is envisioned as a state-of-the-art community destination featuring an all-inclusive playground designed to remove barriers to play, an aquatics center that promotes health and recreation, and accessible greenspace that supports multigenerational use. In support of this vision, a $600,000 federal grant was awarded through the office of Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher via the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

This year’s Wine & Tapas Gala will honor the Bellaire Business Association for its continued support of local parks and community initiatives.
