The We Are Evergreen Committee (WAE) and Bellaire Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department will hold the 2nd annual Duck Derby at Evergreen Pool on Saturday, August 22, 2026. This year’s presenting sponsor is Houston Orthodontic Specialists. Residents can purchase rubber duckies to race down the lanes at Evergreen pool with a gentle push by the Bellaire Fire Department hoses. The derby begins at 10 a.m. following the Cardboard Boat Regatta at 9a.m. and will be a fun-filled way for families and neighbors to celebrate the end of summer while supporting the future of Evergreen Park and Pool.
The first-place duck owner will win an unforgettable prize: a ride to school within Bellaire on a Bellaire Fire Department fire truck! Second and third place winners will receive fantastic prizes donated by Wolfies Swim School, We Rock the Spectrum, Mia’s Table, Lemongrass Cafe, Jax Grill, Lankfords, and Crumbl Cookies. “This event is possible because of the incredible support of our local sponsors and businesses,” said WAE Co-Chair Brad Mills. Houston Orthodontic Specialists, Wolfies Swim School, Bam Bam Martial Arts, Joystix Classic Games & Pinballs, Bellaire ER, Mosquito Joe – West Houston, H.E.B., Lankfords, Contemporary Dental, Ardurra Group, Bellaire Family Eye, 401 Table & Tap and Prestige Complete Auto Care. Many of the sponsors will be pool side with snacks, games and giveaways to participants.
In addition to the main race, every entry is eligible for the Duck Pluck, where participants can jump into the pool and scramble to find a specially marked duck. All entries are also automatically entered into a Raffle. “We had such a great response to the Duck Derby last year that we knew we had to bring it back,” said WAE Co-Chair Kristi Coffey. “It’s such a fun way for families and neighbors to celebrate the end of summer together while supporting a place that means so much to our community.”
There is one more way you can have a chance to win the Raffle. There will be rubber ducks with special tags on them throughout the Bellaire Parks. If you find one, snap a pic send it into the address on the tag. Then on August 22nd show your pic at the Evergreen Pool and trade it for your entrance into the Raffle!
The derby begins at 10 am but residents can get a jump on the fun by participating in theCardboard Boat Regatta at 9 a.m. Build your own boats using only cardboard and duct tape. Then race to the finish line!
All proceeds from the event support one of Bellaire’s premier gathering recreations spots, Evergreen Park and Pool. ‘We Are Evergreen’ is dedicated to providing a park redevelopment that appeals to all ages and all-abilities to nurture a healthy lifestyle for daily living while also improving the economic health of our city.
