The City of Bellaire’s 1st-ever ’Planting Palooza-30 Days of Planting’ has begun!  This initiative is hosted by The Bellaire Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Board and the Bellaire Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department and is a city-wide effort to renew and grow our horticulture in the City during April. “Planting Palooza” will be celebrated daily on social media and the City’s website for everyone to see how we are helping to keep our City healthy, beautiful, and green.

Patrons for Bellaire Parks is proud to be a community partner working to lead planting efforts during this initiative and hopes that you will join us on Wednesday, April 14th from 3:30-4:30 outside the Bellaire Library for a FREE socially-distanced “Sundaes and Seeds” giveaway. Prior to the drive through event, Patrons will proudly dedicate a newly donated pecan tree to the City of Bellaire on the green space adjacent to the Bellaire Library.

Children are invited to participate in a coloring contest during Planting Palooza. The Bellaire Culture and Arts Board invites kids in PreK, Elementary, & Middle School to participate by using their imagination and drawing what trees, plants and nature mean to them. Entries should be submitted by April 23 to Bellaire City Hall at 7008 South Rice, Bellaire. Category winners will be announced April 30th and displayed at Bellaire City Hall. Local businesses have donated prizes for contest winners.
