Woven Stitchery & Crafts, Bellaire’s newest fabric and quilt shop, invites the public to attend its grand opening weekend Sept. 13-14 with in-store giveaways.
Woven’s grand opening celebration will take place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the store, located at 5410 Bellaire Blvd., Ste. D, Bellaire.
The modern fabric and quilting store will stock high-quality fabric available precut and by the yard; bag and quilt patterns; sewing notions; bag making tools and accessories; needlework and cross stitch options; and home and gift items. Woven Stitchery & Crafts will also have a dedicated workspace for hosting classes, workshops and events—such as birthday parties, kids camps and Sip ’n Sews—and will offer quilters on-site longarm services for sewing together the layers of a quilt.
Owner Savreet Singh, a Bellaire resident, said she has worked in corporate finance for 20 years but has always loved to create. When her children were young, she first tapped into creating with fabric by pairing a fabric collection with her child’s chosen birthday party theme to make a quilt for picture backgrounds and personalized bags for party guests.
Wanting now to shift from the corporate world to pursue her creative passion, Singh said she is opening Woven to help others—from beginners to experienced sewers.
“I want to introduce and encourage others to set aside time and find a hobby that creates useful and beautiful handmade items that can be appreciated and even passed down and gifted,” she said.
The store brings a modern approach to quilting with bold and stylish fabrics, as Singh said the industry has changed to appeal to younger generations over the last 15 years. At Woven, customers will be able to learn alongside others, feel the fabric, match colors and try out different hardware options in person.
During the grand opening weekend, Woven Stitchery & Crafts will offer hourly in-store giveaways from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and participants must be present to win. Those who sign up for the business’ newsletter will receive 10% off their first purchase and be entered into a grand prize drawing for a Woven gift card. All attendees at the grand opening will also receive a small gift.
“This is my dream come true. I remember a few years ago telling a close friend that if I could do anything, I would want to open a quilt store that not only offered products, but more importantly, became a community shop,” Singh said. “I want this place to be a welcoming space for all generations and experience levels—a place where it’s fun to learn something new.”
