Texas Music Festival’s final week, re(Discovery) Week, will feature performances by eminent Black classical composers, a jazz performance and a mini-symposium on the story of Black classical music in the 20th century and Houston’s own African-American musical societies.
The re(Discovery) Week is in partnership with Houston Methodist Black Initiatives for Culture, American Festival for the Arts, Blaffer Art Museum and UH African-American Studies.
This week will feature: PERSPECTIVES Faculty Chamber Music, American Festival for the Arts High School Orchestra, TMF Jazz Institute Orchestra Concert, Moores Opera House, (re)Discovery Symposium and Concert and Settling the Score: William Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony.
