Bellaire and West University residents can recycle their Christmas Trees.

Bellaire:

The City of Bellaire is once again partnering with The Save Our Beach Association (SOBA) to provide Christmas tree recycling.

Beginning December 27 through Monday, January 8, residents can bring their trees to the Public Works Service Center, which is located at 4440 Edith, Bellaire, TX. 77401; where a container has been provided for disposal of Christmas trees.  After January 8 please place trees at the curb during regular Solid Waste Collection. Trees collected by the SOBA are utilized in helping create sand dunes, which “are a vital part of flood and wave action control in a tropical storm or hurricane.”

For more information on the SOBA, please visit their website at www.sobatx.org.  If you have any questions about the program, please contact Public Works at 713-662-8170 or pw@bellairetx.gov.

West U:

The City will be collecting Christmas trees for recycling this year thru January 12. Please place your tree free of any foreign material or objects (bulbs, stands, etc) curbside on your regular trash collection day. “Flocked” trees or trees containing any foreign objects will not be accepted for recycling and will be taken as trash for disposal.

All trees placed curbside after January 12 will need to comply with the standard green waste collection rules; cut to 4-foot lengths or less, no greater than 3 inches in diameter and stacked curbside.  These piles will need
to be small enough so it does not delay the crews from collecting the normal routes.  If the piles are large and require special pickup, a special collection fee will be assessed (minimum fee is $50).

Please be aware that we will do our best to collect your Christmas tree on the day they are placed curbside but due to the volume of trees and staff availability, it may not be picked up on the same day.

Please visit www.westutx.gov/specialevents  and click on the “Christmas Tree Recycling” tab for more information.
