I have always been proud to call the City of Bellaire “home.” My family relocated to the area when I was 6 months old. I went to Gordon Elementary (currently Bellaire High School baseball fields), Lanier Junior High and Bellaire High School. Upon graduation I attended Texas A&M University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.   I am a Certified Public Accountant and have an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of St. Thomas.  I have spent my entire career in the energy sector. I currently work for Shell Oil as a Senior Director of Business Development.

Jackie Georgiou for Bellaire City Council

My husband, Mike, and I and our two children live in the house we built on my childhood property.  There are six cousins, multiple aunts and uncles, and grandparents living walking distance from us in Bellaire.  Our entire family has been involved in the Bellaire Community for years. Whether it is baseball games until all hours of the night, parades, fun runs, my son as Bellaire High School Bat Boy, fundraising events, volunteering or City Council meetings, I am there. I am a fierce believer in supporting the Bellaire Police and Fire Departments, as well as all the men and women who come to work each day to make sure the City of Bellaire continues to be a great place to live and work. I support small businesses and encourage purposeful progress / economic growth within the City of Bellaire.

I advocate for a small town feel, but big city amenities. I want people of all ages to be able to live and work in the City of Bellaire. Walkable streets, connectivity, safety, beauty, and a cohesive community are important to me and the future of Bellaire.

As a council member, I will bring ideas, vision, research, common-sense and a can-do attitude to the table. If there is a problem, I will work with the community to find a solution. I strongly aspire to represent the community’s desires, not my own.  I will listen, work as a team member, encourage input from residents and promote the interests of the community to make Bellaire a great place to live and work. It would be my honor to represent the residents of the City of Bellaire, the City I love.  Please vote for Jackie Georgiou for Bellaire City Council Position 6.

Progress with Purpose

This is a pivotal time for development in the City of Bellaire.  The city is centrally located and within minutes to the Houston Medical Center, NRG Park, freeways, restaurants, shopping and more.  The location and city services are very desirable to developers and business owners.  Fostering “smart development” that embraces a vision for the future of Bellaire is very important to current and future residents.  It is time to embrace the benefits of being a small city nestled inside of Houston. How about connecting people and businesses with a walkable town center?  I, for one, can envision something really special there.  Smart development inspires enthusiasm to visit, dine, shop, stroll and ultimately live in Bellaire. When purchasing a home, people increasingly consider whether they can walk to the grocery stores, parks, restaurants and all types of businesses, and will pay a premium for that walkability.  At the same time, it will increase property values and help the city’s tax base flourish. I have a vision for Bellaire as a thriving city and a desirable destination, a small town, cozy and inviting, where quality of life is essential!

City of Gracious Neighbors

Redefining Bellaire as a neighborhood of homes, where residential and commercial neighbors are courteous and gracious to each other is essential to Bellaire’s overall quality of life. Bellaire residents depend on area businesses for the ease of shopping, dining and other services.  Bellaire area businesses depend on resident’s support. It is a win-win for all when residents and business owners work together to promote Bellaire as a great place to live and work.

Community First

A quintessential beautiful city would never be complete without children running and playing in parks, swimming pools and on the sport fields.  Those sights and sounds are synonymous with a community that values quality of life and recreational offerings that benefit the young and old. There is no argument that increased green spaces in communities drive home values up.  People are willing to pay a “green premium” to live there.  Like a well designed store-front window, beautiful parks and green spaces attract homeowners, businesses and consumers.

Safety

Bellaire residents are fortunate to have the City of Bellaire’s police and fire departments.  Appreciation and  support must be shown for those who protect our families and homes.  Simple measures such as reducing speed limits on neighborhood streets, making sure pedestrian and bike-friendly paths are well-lit and installing cameras, could increase safety and benefit all involved.  There must always be a commitment to safety and a welcoming, peaceful environment.

Your voice is important to me!

Many people have great ideas but don’t have time to attend community meetings. Some residents believe their voice will not make a difference. Your voice is very important to me!  Please stay engaged and let me know what is important to you and I will speak on your behalf. With your help, together, we can make the City of Bellaire become a thriving city with a small town feel envied for its vibrance, quality of life, natural beauty, peacefulness and embracing spirit!
